Back to the drawing board

I find that I usually disagree with low ratings for a story when there are plenty of 4 and 5 star ratings also. But I guess I'm going to become one of those negative reviewers this time.
Although I found the storyline extremely appealing, the writing was just too sophomoric for me to get through it. Descriptions using the same adjectives repeated over and over, stilted dialog, explaining things that need no explanation, and grade school-like structure frustrated me to the point that I couldn't finish the story. It felt like this was written by an aspiring teenager in his first writing class. Which means that I can't explain all of the 5 start reviews, though.

Another Good Story

I would definitely like to see this continued. There are some interesting twists and hints that could be greatly expanded into a wonderful series. This story grabs your interest and flows very well. I enjoy Mr. Weil's style of writing as it is easy to read and moves along fairly quickly.
This is a good short story, which deals with mankind's first return trip to the moon since the 20th century. The story is well set up and the suspense builds as you wonder if the two astronauts are going to survive. Can't say too much more without giving the ending away, but I did enjoy it. I can't wait for the next story!

Disappointing

A lot of good reviews. Not sure what is going on here. I like space operas and tried to enjoy the story but the writing was immature and contrived. One of the astronauts seemed to be a whiner. Come on, you don't get to be an astronaut without a type A positive attitude. Did not ring true. Also, in the first 15-20 pages or so we were informed some 5 or 6 times that the astronaut had a wife and son back on earth. Once would be enough! Bought the 3 novellas based on the reviews and wish I had not. Deleted all of them after half way through the first. I hate to give negative reviews, hence the two stars instead of one. I feel ripped off.
