A wonderful primer

This book focuses on the why of beekeeping not the how. Grant (I feel like I ought to be on a first name basis with him) writes about the motivations and purposes of new beekeepers. I very much agree with the author that understanding why you are involving yourself with stinging insects is important, even crucial, for one to ever feel successful. A good read and the price is right!

Not a how-to

This is not a bad read. There are several typos, but it is well written for the most part. But don't get this looking for instructions on how to start keeping bees. This is an opinion piece with some good tips mixed in. But as my title says, it is not a how-to book. I would buy it again, though.

Mis-titled book

If the author deletes the "Beekeping 101" from the title it would keep folks looking for beginners advice on beekeeping from spending any time with this title. About 2 pages of actual beekeeping information, not counting the many self directed web links.
